Snoop Dogg Early Life
Snoop Dogg’s father, Cordozer Calvin Broaddus Jr., was born on October 20, 1971 in Long Beach, California. Some might assume that Cordozer Calvin Broaddus Sr. is his biological father, but that’s not really the case. Snoop’s biological father was Vernell Varnado. When Snoop was three months old, Vernell separated from his mother, Beverly. Beverly later married a man named Cordozer Calvin Broadus. At this point, Cordozer Calvin Broaddus Jr. was infant Snoop’s official name, named after his stepfather. I don’t know what his parents said to him at birth and in the months before his mother remarried. Young Cordozer was nicknamed Snoopy because of his attachment to the cartoon character of Peanuts. Snoop began playing piano and singing at Golgotha Trinity Baptist Church at a young age. He started rapping when he was in sixth grade.
As a child, Calvin’s family made a living selling candy, delivering newspapers, and bagging groceries. He began playing soccer and singing in choirs as a teenager, despite his mother’s efforts to keep him from joining gangs and roaming the streets. He was from the East Side of Long Beach and Rollin was a member of the Crips gang in his 20s. Shortly after graduating from high school, he was arrested for cocaine possession. He spent the next three years in and out of jail and prison.
Death Row Records
In February 2022, it was revealed that Snoop Dogg had purchased the rights to use the Death Row Records brand name. The label’s master recording and music royalties were held by Blackstone, the leading private equity firm from which they had purchased the brand. The brand name allows Snoop to release music and sell merchandise under the name Death Row Records.
Personal Life
Snoop married his high school sweetheart Chante Taylor on June 12, 1997. The couple filed for divorce in May 2004. In January 2008, they reconciled and reaffirmed their marriage vows. The couple has three children, daughter Corey (1999) and sons Cordey (1994) and Cordell (1997). Julianne Cory Broaddus (1998), born from his relationship with Laurie Harmond, is another of Snoop’s children. In 2015, Kordey and his fiancée, Jessica Kaiser, welcomed a son, making Snoop a grandfather. In September 2019, 10 days after his birth, Korde’s second son passed away. Professional wrestler Sasha Banks and R&B artists Brandi and Ray J are cousins of Snoop.
Since the beginning of his career, Snoop has been using cannabis, and cannabis is synonymous with his personality. “It was a natural calling for me, and once I got into it, I enjoyed it,” Snoop said in a 2006 interview, adding that he worked as a professional broker in 2003 and 2004 It was. For me, it was like shooting a layup. “I’ve been making it for a long time,” he added. He said he eventually stopped pimping on the advice of pimp friends who he knew spent more time with his family. Dog works with local officials every Thanksgiving to distribute turkeys to those in need in Inglewood, California. In 2016, they donated 3,000 turkeys.
